Anyone have a recommendation for bank. Local or national is acceptable.
Before the venting begins, let me throw this disclaimer out there. USAA for nearly 15 years was helpful and even had a great customer service system. They actually cared. I think those year and days are gone now.
We have had our last straw with USAA. Over the past 5 - 7 years USAA has significantly deteriorated. We have picked up NSF fees for transactions that were suppose to happen in the future. ... That is what I was actually told by the USAA rep. Additionally, if you are retiring or making your final military move then make sure you purchase your next home mortgage prior to starting your exiting process. As USAA has it pre-built-in to ask this question. If you answer "yes" to retirement then that is a negative mark on your application. If your follow-on occupation is not similar or the same as either the military or your MOS / branch then that is another negative mark on your application. We tried to purchase and move in prior to terminal / transitional leave. If the time from mortgage closing date and assuming your next occupation is greater than either 60 or 90 days ( I can't remember which one it was) then you will be denied for this as well. Even though you are still receiving a military paycheck until you officially retire. They don't really care about that. DorrisWedding green color selections for cocktail
Bottom line for our mortgage application . . . denied.
Thank you Iberia for closing the deal.
Additionally, if you have a debit / credit bank card with USAA then know this. A debit transaction is immediate and if you run your card as credit then it can take a few days to process or clear. The credit card transaction "WILL" clear without rejection and that NSF fee will be applied to your bank account.
Many years ago when you made a deposit (prior to midnight) then that deposit counted prior to withdrawals. The most current USAA policy for deposits is 2000 hours (8:00 PM).
I am no longer interested in USAA contacting us. We have passed that stage in our lives.
